My Experience with Nium – A Serious Concern for Businesses Trust, referrals and references are extremely important in any business, particularly in remittance and foreign exchange, where companies are handling other people’s hard-earned money. I initially approached Nium because they appeared professional and promising. We discussed establishing a business relationship, and I was told that any volume commitment would come after we had successfully tested the service and started processing transactions. However, this was not explained clearly or consistently. The biggest problem started when Nium could not successfully send funds to my payout partner. I followed up several times and even visited their office personally to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the meeting did not produce any solution, as I was told that their technical team was not available. I left the office without any meaningful resolution. At that point, I lost confidence in the company and decided not to proceed. I subsequently found another provider that was able to process my transactions smoothly, and I continue to use that company. Despite not receiving the expected service, Nium later began sending me invoices. I questioned why I was being asked to pay invoices when I had not received the services or successfully processed transactions with them. Another Nium manager then contacted me repeatedly and asked to meet. Despite my busy schedule, I agreed to meet him. During that meeting, he assured me that he would arrange a new contract, personally support the relationship and closely monitor my transactions. He also explained that he needed to demonstrate activity to his senior management and strongly encouraged me to give Nium another opportunity. Although I was already successfully working with another provider, I agreed to give Nium another chance in good faith. Based on his assurances, I loaded approximately AUD 21,000 into my Nium account for transactions. Then, only a few days later, Nium deducted the money from my account against the invoices. I immediately went back to the manager who had encouraged me to proceed. His response was that he had tried to help me, but the decision to deduct that money was not his decision and that he would have told me if he had known about it. This was extremely disappointing. If a manager tells a customer that he will personally handle the relationship and support the transactions, the customer naturally expects those commitments to mean something. I subsequently attempted to contact other members of management to resolve the matter, but I did not receive the resolution I expected. My concern is therefore not simply about the amount of money involved. It is about trust, communication, accountability and whether a business stands behind the commitments made by its representatives. I have retained the relevant correspondence, invoices, transaction records and other supporting evidence. I intend to raise the matter with the appropriate Australian regulatory and dispute-resolution bodies, including AFCA, ASIC and AUSTRAC, where appropriate. I am sharing my experience because I do not want another business to enter into an arrangement without fully understanding the terms, particularly around volume commitments, trial periods, fees and the circumstances in which funds may be deducted. There are many Australian companies and payment providers available, so businesses should take the time to research their options and choose a provider that is transparent, accountable and able to support their specific payment requirements. My advice is simple: do not rely solely on verbal promises or become locked into commitments before the service has actually been tested successfully. In my experience with Nium, when I raised issues with the local management team, I was repeatedly left with the impression that important decisions were controlled from overseas, while the local managers were unable to resolve the matter. For me, that lack of accountability was a major reason why I lost trust. Please do your own research, seek independent references and compare Australian providers before committing your money or transaction volume. There are many options available—don’t put your business at risk based solely on promises made during the sales process. In remittance and foreign exchange, trust is everything—and once trust is lost, it is very difficult to rebuild.
My experience with Nium was disappointing and ultimately very costly. My company spent more than a year integrating with Nium's platform. During that time, we encountered repeated onboarding delays, technical issues, inconsistencies between testing and production environments, documentation challenges, and extended response times. Despite continued engagement with Nium's technical and management teams, we continued development in reliance on the relationship and invested significant time and money into the integration. In October 2025, Nium suspended and then terminated our access to its platform. We subsequently filed an arbitration claim seeking recovery of approximately $70,000 in documented development and integration costs. After a lengthy arbitration process, the arbitrator ruled in Nium's favor on the contract claims, and I respect the outcome even though I disagree with it. However, there are a few facts that prospective customers should know: • Nium sought approximately $40,000 in attorney's fees from us during the arbitration. • The arbitrator denied Nium's request for attorney's fees in its entirety. • The arbitrator specifically found that we did not act in bad faith in bringing the case. My takeaway is that prospective customers should carefully evaluate Nium's technical readiness, onboarding process, responsiveness, documentation quality, and long-term commitment to the relationship before investing significant development resources. Based on my experience, substantial time, effort, and expense can be incurred before a platform is fully operational, and businesses should ensure they are comfortable with that risk before proceeding. This was my experience. Others may have different experiences.
Never take this Card because this card is not accepted many of the places or restaurant and ATM withdrawal has charged many of the ATM. Site of the card has not shown transaction on Mobile immediately.
Relay recently switched to using NIUM as its partner for international payments. NIUM has taken over 2 months to review business applications to receive international payments on its platform. In that time, countless businesses like mine have been unable to invoice their international clients. I went into this year with my main source of revenue being a contract with a UK-based client. I haven't been able to invoice them for 3.5 months' worth of work. That's thousands and thousands of dollars in backed-up revenue, directly impacting my small business's liquidity and threatening its viabiliity. I don't have direct contact with NIUM, but if this is how they handle an integration with a major business opportunity like international payments for Relay, I can't imagine how they handle one-off issues. I'd give negative stars if I could.
Company is the slowest and most unreliable when it comes to moving money.
I not suggest to make deal with this company because I send many time emails and i try to connect with anyone working in this company on the LinkedIn they look my email not response is this real company and there is no contact number to make call
Truffa !
