Moonwell Card

Moonwell Card was a Visa Platinum crypto debit card jointly offered by Moonwell and Cypher, with virtual and physical cards previously available. Users could top up directly with USDC on the Base network or use assets such as cbBTC and ETH as collateral on Moonwell to borrow USDC, load it onto the card and spend through the Visa network. Because partner Cypher entered a process of ceasing all operations, Moonwell Card stopped all card payment services on 8 August 2026.

Card overview
Moonwell Card connected Moonwell's on-chain lending capabilities with the traditional Visa payment network. During operation, users could load Base USDC directly from a self-custody wallet, or borrow USDC against collateral assets in Moonwell and then load it onto the card. Cypher then processed the USDC, converting it through partner infrastructure such as Circle Mint and Reap into fiat balances for Visa spending. The card previously covered online purchases, physical merchants, Apple Pay, Google Pay and ATM access, and offered an Auto Load feature that automatically replenished the balance from Moonwell USDC Vault. Cypher stopped new applications and top-ups on July 8, 2026, and cancelled all cards on August 8. Therefore, while Moonwell's lending protocol remains operational, Moonwell Card itself has ceased service.

Notice: Card services ended on 2026/08/08, and all active Moonwell/Cypher cards were cancelled. Balances should be withdrawn no later than the platform's closure on 2026/09/06. Operations ceased because Cypher was acquired by Nium, after which the existing consumer card, business card and CYPR platforms were closed.
