It pioneers a mass-market "non-pre-funded" payment model, aiming to seamlessly bring on-chain digital assets to over 150 million Mastercard merchants worldwide. 🌟 Core business and product features True self-custody for everyday spending: Traditional crypto cards require users to top up assets into a centralized custodial account in advance. MetaMask Card, in contrast, is directly linked to the user's non-custodial wallet, with 100% of assets remaining in the user's own on-chain wallet until the moment of payment. Only when tapping the card in a physical store or checking out online does a smart contract deduct and convert the designated digital assets in real time for fiat settlement. Multi-chain and multi-asset support: Full support for major networks including Linea, Base, Solana, and Monad. Users can freely designate and prioritize deduction assets, currently supporting a variety of mainstream assets including MetaMask's official native stablecoin mUSD, USDC, USDT, EURe (euro stablecoin), and wETH (wrapped Ethereum). Two card tiers and high on-chain rewards: Virtual Tier (virtual card): 100% free card issuance, no monthly or annual fees, supports immediate use via Apple Pay or Google Pay, and offers 1% mUSD stablecoin cashback on compliant everyday spending. Metal Tier (physical metal card): A 16-gram stainless steel physical card for high-frequency and power users, with an annual fee of $199, higher spending/withdrawal limits, zero cross-border transaction fees, and up to 3% mUSD cashback in the first year. Yield-bearing on idle assets: Through deep integration with DeFi platforms such as Aave, users can choose to hold interest-bearing tokens like aUSDC or amUSD in their wallet. These assets continue to earn annualized yield in the wallet until the moment of spending, enabling "earn while you spend."

Card overview

MetaMask Card connects the MetaMask self-custody wallet to the Mastercard payment network. Users first hold eligible assets on a supported blockchain network, then grant spending authorization to the card's smart contract. When the card is used, the system debits and converts assets in real time according to the order set by the user, while the merchant receives payment as with an ordinary bank card transaction. The card program is managed by Crypto Life, with institutions including Baanx and Monavate providing card program and issuance infrastructure. The Virtual card is mainly intended for online transactions, mobile wallets, and everyday card payments. The MetaMask Metal card provides both a digital card and a physical metal card, with higher spending and withdrawal limits. The Virtual card remains available in eligible regions, while new-user registration is paused in the United States and the United Kingdom. New Metal orders have been paused since June 2, 2026, but existing cardholders can continue using their cards.
