For crypto payment card users, one of the most practical benefits of Apple Pay is that once a virtual card is activated, it can usually be added directly to Apple Wallet without waiting for the physical card to arrive. Once added, it can be used for contactless payments with an iPhone or Apple Watch in stores, as well as for checkout in apps and on websites that support Apple Pay.

However, whether a card supports Apple Pay cannot be determined simply by whether it is Visa or Mastercard. More important factors include the issuing region, the specific card version, whether the card issuer supports Apple Pay, and whether the region associated with the account meets the eligibility requirements.

Currently, MetaMask Card, Bybit Card, Nexo Card, Gnosis Pay Card, Wirex Card, Solayer Pay, and Crypto.com Card issued in certain regions have all been explicitly documented in official materials as offering or supporting Apple Pay.

MetaMask Card

MetaMask Card supports Apple Wallet and can be used for in-store purchases, in-app payments, and web payments.

However, the card is not available in every region, and eligibility and available features may change. When checking whether it can be used, users should verify not only Apple Pay support, but also whether the card can be applied for in their location and which issuing version of the card they have received.

Bybit Card

Some Bybit Card issuing programs support Apple Pay. Once the virtual card is activated, eligible users can add it to Apple Wallet.

Bybit Card may be issued by different institutions in different regions, so its features may not be identical. The fact that users in another region can add the card successfully does not mean that your card will necessarily support it. The most direct way to check is to see whether an “Add to Apple Wallet” option appears in the Bybit App.

Nexo Card

Nexo Card supports Apple Pay. Users can add it through the Nexo App or try entering the card details manually in Apple Wallet.

Nexo Card offers different spending modes. Apple Wallet is only the payment interface; which balance is actually charged and whether a credit line is used are still determined by the card settings in the user's Nexo account.

Gnosis Pay Card

Gnosis Pay Card supports Apple Pay and can be used to make payments through devices such as an iPhone or Apple Watch.

Products of this type combine on-chain assets with traditional card payments, but applications remain subject to regional and identity-verification requirements. Apple Pay support does not mean that users in every country are eligible to apply.

Wirex Card

Some regional versions of the Wirex Card support Apple Pay. Once the virtual card is activated, eligible users can add it directly without waiting for the physical card.

Wirex may use different card networks and issuing programs in different markets. Support should therefore be determined by the features actually shown in the user's account rather than relying solely on the experiences of users in other countries.

Solayer Pay

The Solayer Pay virtual card can be added to Apple Pay and used for both online and in-store purchases.

The card is available only to eligible users and regions and requires identity verification. Whether it can be used depends on application eligibility, card status, and the region associated with the account.

Crypto.com Card

Apple Pay support for Crypto.com Card varies significantly by region. It is already available in some markets, while other markets may not currently be supported.

Therefore, Crypto.com Card should not simply be labeled as “supporting Apple Pay globally.” Availability needs to be checked for the specific country or region in which the card is issued.

It Says Apple Pay Is Supported — Why Does Adding the Card Still Fail?

Failures when adding a card to Apple Pay are not uncommon. For a card to be successfully added to Apple Wallet, the following conditions generally need to be met at the same time:

  • Apple Pay is available in the user's region
  • The relevant card issuer supports Apple Pay
  • The specific card version held by the user supports Apple Wallet
  • The card has been activated
  • The account and identity-verification status are in good standing
  • There are no obvious conflicts between the Apple ID region, device settings, and card information

The same brand may use multiple BINs, issuers, and regional versions. Even if the card name is the same, the underlying issuing structure may differ.

Therefore, the fact that “someone else added it successfully” should only be treated as a reference and not as a definitive conclusion about your own card.

Can Both Virtual and Physical Cards Be Added?

Not necessarily.

Some products support Apple Pay for both virtual and physical cards; some support only one of the two; and some products offer a virtual card but require the account review to be completed, the card to be activated, or even the physical card to be shipped before it can be added to Apple Wallet.

Before applying, it is best to confirm three things:

  • Whether the virtual card can be added independently
  • Whether the physical card must be activated first
  • Whether Apple Pay support applies to the current issuing region

Apple Pay Support Does Not Mean the Card Is Suitable for Long-Term Use

Apple Pay is only a payment method. It does not mean that a card has low fees, few restrictions, or low risk.

When choosing a card, users should also review the card issuance fee and annual fee, transaction fees, foreign exchange fees, crypto asset conversion costs, eligible application regions, KYC requirements, and whether refunds can be returned normally.

For long-term use, it is also advisable to review records of account freezes, card suspensions, and failed transactions, confirm that the issuer and operating entity are clearly identified, and check whether the product is still issuing cards normally.

The fact that a card can be added to Apple Wallet only means that it supports mobile payments. It does not replace an assessment of fees, regional availability, and risk.
