Income may arrive in USDT, USDC, or other on-chain assets, while expenses can include ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub, cloud servers, domains, design software, flights, hotels, and everyday purchases. When choosing a card, the real question is not simply whether you can “spend crypto,” but how to reduce transfers and conversions while keeping work funds separate from personal spending.

MetaMask Card, Gnosis Pay Card, Bybit Card, Wirex Card, SafePal Mastercard, and Solayer Pay are among the more common options. None is universally better than the others. The right choice mainly depends on where you keep your assets and where you usually spend.

MetaMask Card

MetaMask Card is suitable for people who regularly use self-custody wallets.

It can connect to supported assets in MetaMask for software subscriptions, online shopping, and everyday spending without first transferring funds to an exchange or prepaid-card account. The virtual card can also be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay.

For developers, researchers, and independent creators, this workflow can be convenient: income arrives in the wallet, and everyday spending also comes directly from the wallet, removing an extra layer of fund transfers.

However, using your main wallet directly as a spending wallet is not recommended. A more prudent approach is to create a separate MetaMask account and keep only the amount needed for near-term spending there. That way, problems involving the card, a merchant, or the account are less likely to affect long-term holdings.

MetaMask Card has regional restrictions and requires identity verification. It is not an anonymous card and is not available in every country.

Gnosis Pay Card

Gnosis Pay Card is suitable for people already comfortable with Safe, multisig setups, and on-chain permission management.

Its main appeal is not cashback, but the fact that funds can remain in a self-custody account while dedicated permissions are used for card spending. For users who care about control over their funds, this structure can be clearer than leaving assets on an exchange for long periods.

It also works well as a separate spending account. You can create a dedicated Safe for travel, subscriptions, and everyday expenses without giving the card direct access to a project treasury or long-term reserves.

Gnosis Pay has limited regional availability and is currently focused mainly on selected countries in Europe and Latin America. For people unfamiliar with Safe or on-chain permission management, the learning curve is also higher than with a typical exchange card.

Bybit Card

Bybit Card is suitable for people who already manage their liquid funds on Bybit.

If income, trading capital, or stablecoin balances are already held on Bybit, opening a virtual card for software subscriptions, online payments, and in-store spending is relatively straightforward. The virtual card can be used after activation, while physical cards and mobile-wallet support are also available in some regions.

Its main advantage is convenience. Funds do not have to be withdrawn to a wallet first and then converted into fiat or transferred to another account.

The trade-off is equally clear: the assets are held on a centralized platform. Bybit Card is better suited as a spending account than as a primary asset-storage tool. Keeping only the amount needed in the short term is generally more prudent.

Wirex Card

Wirex Card is suitable for people who travel frequently, work across borders, or use both fiat currencies and crypto assets.

It is closer to a multi-currency debit card, covering online subscriptions, in-store card payments, hotel bookings, and ATM withdrawals. For users who regularly attend overseas conferences, meet clients, or work across regions, it offers broader coverage than products that provide only virtual cards.

Wirex fees and service availability vary by region. What really needs to be checked is the foreign-exchange fee, ATM limits, funding methods, and local card program rather than simply looking at claims such as “global use” or the cashback percentage.

If the main need is travel and everyday spending rather than self-custody, Wirex can be more practical than a purely on-chain card.

SafePal Mastercard

SafePal Mastercard is suitable for freelancers who need bank transfers, stablecoins, and card spending to coexist.

Its value goes beyond simply providing a Mastercard. Some users can also receive a personal IBAN account, which can make it more complete than a standalone virtual card for receiving overseas project payments, handling bank transfers, and covering everyday expenses.

However, a personal IBAN and personal card are still personal financial tools. They cannot directly replace a company's formal bank account, payroll system, or accounting processes.

It can be convenient for occasional payments and spending. If you already have a team, a registered company, and established financial procedures, formal business accounts should still be used.

Solayer Pay

Solayer Pay is suitable for users in the Solana ecosystem.

If most of your everyday income and funds are held as USDC on Solana, the card can reduce bridging, withdrawals, and currency-conversion steps. The virtual card can be used for online payments and mobile wallets, while some use cases also support physical payments and ATM access.

Its positioning is clear and relatively specialized. Users who primarily use Solana and USDC may find it convenient. If assets are spread across multiple networks, or if you frequently need fiat accounts and multi-currency management, it may not be the best fit.

Which option is more suitable?

If you mainly use self-custody wallets and want to retain control over funds until the point of payment, MetaMask Card and Gnosis Pay Card are worth closer attention.

If you mainly manage liquid funds on a centralized exchange and want to pay for software and everyday expenses directly after opening the card, Bybit Card is simpler.

If you travel frequently and need a physical card, mobile payments, and ATM access, Wirex Card provides broader coverage.

If you need both personal bank transfers and stablecoin/card spending, SafePal Mastercard is worth considering.

If you mainly work in the Solana ecosystem and both income and spending are primarily in USDC, Solayer Pay may better match your actual workflow.

If you have already used platforms such as Nexo or Crypto.com for a long time, check the card benefits available through your existing account first. Moving assets to another platform just for a small amount of cashback may not be worthwhile.

Fund separation matters more than cashback

One of the easiest things for Web3 professionals to overlook is not fees, but the mixing of different pools of money.

A more prudent approach is:

That way, even if a card is frozen, a merchant dispute occurs, or an account requires renewed verification, your main assets are less likely to be affected.

Team expenses also should not rely indefinitely on one member's personal card. Occasional reimbursement may be acceptable in the early stage, but once the team begins operating consistently, formal business accounts, approval procedures, and reimbursement processes should be established as soon as possible.

Do not look only at cashback

Web3 cards often place cashback in the most prominent position, but cashback commonly comes with account-tier requirements, asset lockups, spending caps, or regional conditions.

In actual use, the following factors are more worth comparing:

Avoiding one withdrawal, cross-chain transfer, or currency conversion is often worth more than earning slightly more cashback.

  • Keep long-term assets in a hardware wallet or multisig
  • Keep project funds in a separate business account
  • Use a separate wallet or card account for personal spending
  • Keep only near-term spending funds in the card account
  • How quickly stablecoins can be spent after they are received
  • Whether funds are self-custodied or held by the platform
  • Whether common software and overseas subscriptions can be paid
  • Whether a physical card and mobile wallet support are available
  • Foreign-exchange and asset-conversion costs
  • Whether ATM access is available
  • Whether refunds are handled properly
  • Whether there is an appeal channel if the card is frozen
  • Whether reconciliation is convenient
  • Whether regional eligibility and KYC requirements suit your situation
